Who we are
SaveDotOrg is run by NTEN. On Friday, November 22, 2019, NTEN and 26 other organizations co-signed a letter to Andrew Sullivan, CEO of Internet Society. Simultaneously, we launched this website to make the letter public and allow others to voice their concerns about the proposed sale of Public Interest Registry to private equity firm Ethos Capital.
On Monday, November 25, 2019, after an incredible response from the community to our call to join us in sending the letter, we transitioned from enabling visitors to send emails directly to endorsing the letter. We switched to the endorsement after 7,308 emails had been sent. The petition is shared with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a partner in this campaign.
NTEN is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Portland, Ore., that supports nonprofits in using technology strategically to meet their missions and community needs. We believe that the internet is a powerful and necessary tool. It’s vital that it is affordable and accessible to all people.
